Week 7 reflection

The week 7 is finished and today is Monday. I would like to share my ideas about last week with you.

The discussion task One computer settings was quite new and interesting for me. I've never thought of using one computer in the classroom and using a computer in the classroom seemed very effective for me. Here is my post on nicenet about this subject:

"Hi dear friends,

Though, I've never used one computer in my classroom, I would like to bring you my ideas.

Usually, modern English teachers are using their own notebooks even if they don't have PC in their classroom so, that is usual thing if we use computer in the classroom. Unfortunately I don't have a notebook yet, but soon I will buy it.

Well, my ideas about using a computer in the classroom. It gives lots of advantages, as teacher can easily show pupils his presentations, videos and can use his room as a lingo phone cabinet if he has no kind of comforts in his school. I mean no need to use a projector, or lingo phone if you have a computer in the classroom.

Moreover, the teacher usually has all his tools in electronic variant and he can easily get them right during the lesson."

I read all other participants posts, all of them were very interesting for me as I found out that many of my course-mates had a great experience in this subject.

The next one: Wallwisher/Padlet. Though, I already used this web tool I found it quite interesting when saw that all others added some useful articles, links, videos and other materials including Learner's autonomy subject. I decide to use it till the end of semester in my school. As it's very nice tool where you can have fun bringing your students some interesting facts and asking them share some other facts in any theme.

In find a partner for peer reading section Robert asks us to find a partner for the next main project. I choosed Pervana from Azerbaijan. Pery is very good friend and teacher with great experience. And I think she is that person from whom I can learn some of secrets in creating project.

The sixth week is finished...

The sixth week is finished and today is monday night.
Now, I am going to write my thoughts and ideas about last week which was also very exciting and had effective materials for me and I am sure for my other colleagues participating in our course.

The topic Discussion includes the theme:Engaging students/large classes.
Of course, this time the discussion was very interesting and I could read how other teachers gave their opinions about Engaging students large classes.

I thought that just some of teachers are having large classes, but many of them have experienced in teaching large auditories in schools, universities... and I liked Dagnogo's message about discipline in large classes.

As for me, I also shared my opinions.

The next topic was extremely exciting! As Robert asked us to create our own interactive Power Point presentation. That was I really wanted to do so long. And as you can see in my blog I've created a "Can chocolate help save the world" presentation. My colleagues were very interested in my PP doc and left their brilliant comments.

This was my reflection for week 6.

Week 5 reflection (Very hard and effective week)

Hi everybody who is reading my "Week 5 reflection" in my web blog!

I really appreciate your visit and your comments.

Now, let me share my ideas, reflections about last week which was very exciting and had quite hard tasks.

In "Project step #4 I had to write a solution to the problem that I wrote a week ago. The problem solution should be a technology - related change that means, I need to think wide and to shake my brain so that to solve the "time management" problem in my lessons. Then, I remembered a WebQuest that is a good desicion in my mind. Because, lack of time I couldn't make a progress in explaining the subject to my students. I mean 45 minutes aren't enough for me. So, a project in WebQuest can make it easier as I don't need to manage time for checking homework at the beginning of lesson and giving homework at the end. WebQuest is a nice instrument where I can mark my students by their answers to tasks.

The next one was a week 5 task. The notion "rubrics" was unfamiliar for me until this task. So, Robert asked us to create a Rubric. Thanks GOOGLE! that always helps me in kind of moments. I referred to my friend and asked him to help me with "rubric". Finally, I found this: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php?screen=WhatIs&module=Rubistar . This link gave me enough info about rubric and I could create my rubric doc :)

In discussion topic we had "Assessment. Rubrics and PBL" where we were asked to answer some questions. Again I was thankful to my search engine friend Google, where I found information about PBL (I didn't know anything about PBL before) reading http://online.sfsu.edu/rpurser/revised/pages/problem.htm I tried to guess how to answer the questions and tried my best.

The week was hard but very effective for me. As I learned about Rubrics, WebQuest, PBL lots of things and the most important thing I learned how to use them.

One more thing, about Extra Credit. I've created page on zunal and working on it. For the person who doesn't know many things about WebQuest. it's little bit difficult to start a new project there. But I can do it. My project name is "Talking about the future" which I am going to start with 9 th grades, but I am working on it nowadays and it takes me a lot of time to work with it.

As I said, the week was successful and effective for me. I am thankful to my course-mates who share their brilliant ideas in Nicenet and Robert who is tries to make us work hard. :)

Reflection for this week (4 th week)

My dear colleagues and friends.

With respect to Robert and to other course-mates I would like to start my Reflection for this week.

Because of very important project that is starting in our country I couldn't start this week's tasks from Monday. But on wednesday I tried myself in "Class issue, need or problem". I read many messages left by my colleagues and all of them were very interesting. As Robert asked us to write about issues or problems, many participants wrote about problems and issues in their school. Reading some of posts I realized that many teachers have many problems and your problem depends in what area you live. And moreover, some of us have same problems like: Internet connection, motivation, time management etc...

And about the next project " Discussion, Reading, writing, vocabulary skills". Frankly, it was very hard project for me. As I told you that I had lots of problems last week I was little bit nervous about finishing another project and this one seemed very hard for me. But when I read the instructions I found it quite interesting and very useful. I am very thankful to Robert, for giving us such kind of tasks, because all these projects are making me work on myself (Also we can see it from Mustafa Ahmed Ali's post to my subject: "Hello Nasim Sadikov,

Week 4 is the week of reading by the very meaning of the word reading. We read about reading, how to improve reading , how to develop your vocabulary to develop your reading. All this happened through reading. I think that Robert intended to make us read more to teach us to be a model for our students. I myself liked reading this week more than before. What do you think?"
. I posted two links and wrote my ideas about them.

The third task was very interesting for me, because I tried myself in creating a new lesson plan but to the ready pattern. I think, we can use this lesson plan in practice. Well, I decide to try it soon.

With respect,
Nasim Sadikov

My reflection for the 3rd week

Time to write my reflection for the 3rd week.

The week hasn't finished yet.
What I've learnt in this week? I think this is the question to which I should give answer and by reading my answers you will know what is my reflection for this week.

After logging in to Nicenet I saw three projects and one of them delicious.com seemed very interesting.

This website is usually used to create online bookmarks. We all use bookmarks in our web browsers, and they are very useful. But delicious.com is more effective and useful. Because, there going to be moments when you are using not your own PC and there is a very interesting website/page which you would like to save and you don't know what to do. If you know how to use delicious you can easily login and save that website/link.

This site is easy to use and has classic design that is not boring, on the contrary, everything is made accurately.

Just couple days ago I experienced delicious. In nearest Internet cafe I found by chance a very interesting page with wonderful article and bookmarked it via delicioius.com.

In next project Robert asked us to Choose *one* of the PDF sample project reports from past Webskills classes and summarize what the author did in his/her project and we had to discuss what we liked about the project

I choosed Zlatka Dyankova's project and carefully read it. I had lack of time problem in the 3rd week, and had no time to read Zladka's project. Thus I printed it out and read in free time. Well, I gave information about this teacher's students, class and summarized what success did she achieve in her project.
Zlatka Dyankova a Bulgarian teacher experimented a web quest project in zunal.com. She created a special web site and asked her students to follow all the tasks in her website. The students were excited about sports, games tasks in teacher's website and Zlatka's experiment was very successful.

In Nicenet I read some other course-mates' summarizations.
Nazeer Ahmed perfectly described Aleyda Linares's (Honduras) project perfectly. I learnt that Aleyda has got class of 16 undergraduate students and her school has a "rich" computer lab. She tried her best in teaching grammar with the help of grammar online resources and moreover she made her students to work individually etc,. It's just a short summarization.

In the third blog we had to write down which website we used for listening, speaking or pronunciation skills.
I checked others' messaged and felt a bit shy because most of the messages told me the perfect experience of my course-mates. From their messages I learnt lots of useful information and I am very thankful to all them.
As for me, I posted only two pages from BC and wrote some recommendations.

With respect,
Nasim Sadikov

Let's sing the song "Happy birthday to you" for Robert!

Dear friends,

I've just found out that today is our trainee, instructor Robert Elliot's birthday!

Let's sing the song together
"Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Robert,
Happy birthday to youuuuuu!!!"

Wow, Robert, I feel happy to congratulate you with your birthday. Let me say you some wishes from me and our colleagues. Feel always young like you do and never feel tired to share your experience with other teachers like we. Happy birthday one more time.
This card is for you:

2nd week reflection

Well, the second week is past and it's time to write my conclusion about last week.

The first half of the week was very difficult for me, I was seriously ill and asked from Robert to give me permission for couple days.

Well, now I am ok and ready to work in our online course :).

abcd objective - is very convinient to manage your lesson. I wanted to use this project in my classes, but unfortunately as I was ill I couldn't go to work. But I liked it very much and tried it on theme "English literature" but nobody replied it, it is because I posted my message too late.

About Search. I wrote my reflection here.

The last one. Robert asked us to write everything about our schools, classes, lessons in Final Project. It was very nice for me to give wide information about the place where I work. And I liked the way Elena Rivas  described us her school. Moreover, it was really interesting to read other teachers' messages.

Reflection on Search (week 2)

I am happy to see you in my web blog. Today I would like to share my ideas about Search that we had on 2nd week.

But before, I would like to say "thank you" to Robert, for showing us truthful resources in searching information for our English lessons.

After visiting this page and reading all this in this link: http://www.noodletools.com/debbie/literacies/information/5locate/adviceengine.html I realized that I am just a beginner in searching engines and that there are too many things which I can use for searching English teaching resources. For example, ask.com can help me to find any answer for my questions. In my lesson I sometimes turn to English literature, because I love foreign literature and scholar.google.com/advanced_scholar_search, worldcat.org become very valuable web resources for me.

This was my reflection for Search.

1st week report

The first week is almost finished and I would like to make some reports about this week.

 1) Creating my own web blog and designing it was very impressive and useful part.
 2) I introduced myself to other course-mates from various parts of our planet.
 3) The Ground rules from Robert Elliot.
 4) I added my hometown to Google Map.

  1) Sure, I had my web blog before starting this online course, but this time I created lots of new things for myself. After creating my web blog, I made up my mind to use this one not only for my online course but for my colleagues at my school. I informed them about this blog and welcome to see and read what I am learning. Moreover, I think it's time to create one more web blog for my pupils at school.

 2) Frankly speaking, it is great pleasure for me to be in this course with such experienced teachers like: Parvana Piriyeva, Mustafa Ahmed Ali, Irada Samadova and all others. Reading messages in Introductions page, I made up my mind to find out more about these wonderful people and learn more experience from them. Hope they will share their experience and ideas in their blogs or in facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/299047533531855/ Moreover, I am happy to meet with Robert, and feel satisfied with the tasks in our online course and would like to say thank you to him. Robert is doing his best in bringing us creative and interesting links.

  3) I am totally agree with ground rules.

  4) It was really creative by Robert to bring us Google Map. I've seen Google Map in some websites, but never paid attention on it. Showing to your friends, colleagues or even students is very impressive thing. Now I am planning to think how to use Google Map in my lessons. I think it would be very interesting for my students to know what is it.

Academic Blog

Hello dear visitors of my web blog that I’ve created it to share my ideas in online course "Building teaching skills through the interactive web", University of Oregon. Today I would like to share what I learnt while creating this web blog.
In fact, I have been a member of Blogger.com for 4 months and have here one more web blog that was  created to share my experience in teaching English at colleges. But alas, I couldn’t find time to work with it and it is still empty.
Today, I make up my mind to create a new web blog and share here my reports. After creating this blog I found it funny, interesting, simple to use. Because, here we can post lots of things and share our ideas with friends, colleagues and even students.
Easy to use web blog will help me to share my skills while learning in online course.

My reflection on using this blog for class is, I had experience: While learning British Council's online course, I created my own web blog and asked my students to visit it and read some additional information about what we are having during lessons. They were very interested and some of them who had no PC's at home tried to visit website on their mobile phones. It was quite interesting and creative way to give some extra lessons.

Wish me good luck, my friends!
